Introduction:

So I am not really big on preambles or prologues, but I really couldn't think of a way to begin blogging that didn't come out like an introduction. So I accepted my fate and wrote this introductory blog. I hope you enjoy.

After my daily 4-6 cups of coffee today, I decided to sit in front of my slightly worn, slightly quirky little laptop and finally bite the blogging bullet. First, I needed a theme. Or something like a theme so that my blog doesn't switch from ranting about my own political dogmas one day to my Great Aunt Sharron's homemade pizza recipe (The secret is the sauce) the next. Another cup of coffee didn't make it any clearer, although it made my foot start tapping. Finally, as I listened to some really awesome slam poetry on my ipod, it hit me that I should just write about what I like. I decided to blog about about the things that I always have something to say about, even when no one else is listening or interested, not even just a little bit. I am going to blog about the music I am listening to and the poetry I am really digging on at the moment and hopefully the amalgam of blogging about those two things will turn into something kind of interesting. So, that is my little spiel about the theme.

As for the title, it comes from one of my favorite poems from one of my favorite poets named Derrick Brown. If you haven't heard him, then you should immediately hit this link (http://www.brownpoetry.com/) and check him out. And listen to the audio on his page. It is ridiculously funny. And weird. I hadn't ever heard him until my friend Adam brought the the Electric Whale Revival tour to campus and I helped work it and met and watched the best slam poetry ever. Really, it was amazing. Blew my mind. You should have been there. Needless to say, this guy, Derrick Brown, had his poetry set to music and his poems were funny and heartbreaking and poignant and scary good.

Well, that is all I have now. Hopefully, I will figure out how to embed a youtube video. If I succeed, you should watch it. It is the poem "The Kurosawa Champagne".
